Upstate Education Spectrum
Forums for Upstate K-12, higher education, and business and economic development leaders to explore and identify opportunities for connectivity and collaboration
Since 2018, Ten at the Top, in partnership with Public Education Partners, has been regularly convening representatives from K-12, post-secondary education, and the business community to explore and identify opportunities for connectivity and collaboration.
That group, now called the Upstate Education Spectrum, identified the South Carolina teacher shortage as an issue to tackle as a unified, regional group.
Three committees were formed around the areas of (1) Understanding the Challenge, (2) Elevating the Profession, and (3) Teacher Recruitment and Retention.
On May 7, 2019, the three committees provided an update and recommendations for advancing elements of the K-12 Teacher Shortage issue. The committees will continue meeting during the summer and fall of 2019 and will have another full Education Spectrum Meeting in October/November.
