    Bela Fleck Banjo Documentary “Throw Down Your Heart”

    Enjoy a screening and discussion on the film “Throw Down Your Heart” a documentary from 2008 which was funded solely by sixteen-time GRAMMY winner Bela Fleck at the Greenville Library.  The film connects the rich cultural origins of the banjo in Africa and the Caribbean to the U.S. Appalachian region, tracing its evolution as an instrument with a pivotal role in the forefront of one of America’s unique musical genres, bluegrass. In partnership with the Carolina Music Museum and the Spartanburg Philharmonic.
