Paint Spring with a Purpose

Paint the springtime with fresh ideas, tips, and discoveries. Any medium is welcome, but pastels will be featured. Want to try pastels for the first time? All pastel materials will be provided—but if you have favorite pastel sticks, bring them. (Bring sketch pad and pencils and a lunch.) You will choose from several photos for your source, photos that will inspire you, taken at the top of Sassafras Mountain in early spring. Things you will learn in painting springtime: composition concerns, high key values, atmospheric perspective, and color values.

Looking for an added challenge? Plein Air painting will be taught by Donna at Clemson Botanical Gardens on May 12. It’s the perfect way to apply all your new knowledge!! Remember that BRAC will feature a special $500 pastel category award in memory of Betsy Barker in the September Member Show. We also look forward to a new monthly meeting of pastel enthusiasts beginning on the last Saturday in August at 10:00.
