Donnell Rawlings is an overnight success a decade in the making. You’ve seen him on Comedy Central’s award winning and critically celebrated Chappelle’s Show as ‘Ashy Larry’, the 70’s jheri curled ‘Beautiful’, and numerous other characters he’s played. Donnell is the franchise player Dave Chappelle and Neal Brennan wanted as a writer and prime time player on their team. Since Dave Chappelle had business to take care of in Africa, Donnell was asked to step into the huge shoes Dave left behind, and host the Lost Episodes. “Hilarious” is what Linda Stasi of The New York Post calls Donnell’s performance as host.

Miss Saigon at the Peace Center


Experience the acclaimed new production of the legendary musical Miss Saigon, from the creators of Les Misérables. In the last days of the Vietnam War, 17-year-old Kim is forced to work in a bar run by a notorious character known as the Engineer. There she meets and falls in love with an American G.I. named Chris, but they are torn apart by the fall of Saigon. For three years, Kim goes on an epic journey of survival to find her way back to Chris, who has no idea he's fathered a son. This new production features stunning spectacle and a sensational cast of 42, performing the soaring score featuring Broadway hits including “The Heat is On in Saigon,” “The Movie in My Mind,” and “Last Night of the World.”

Miss Saigon  contains some scenes and language which may not be suitable for younger audience members, including scenes of a sexual nature. This performance will contain strobe lights, gun shots and pyrotechnic effects.

King Legacy Gala

Join us as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with speakers, music, dinner, and entertainment!
Tom Joyner, of the Tom Joyner Morning Show and Tom Joyner Foundation will be our special guest for the evening. We will recognize and celebrate his tireless work to uplift our communities and his avid support of Historically Black Colleges and Universities with our Trailblazer Award. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. will also join us for the evening.

All proceeds will be used to sponsor Rainbow PUSH Coalition Greenville and King Legacy Week educational and community events that are free to the public.

King Legacy Week HBCU STEAM Fair


We are committed to helping youth earn college degrees at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)!

Mr. Tom Joyner, of the Tom Joyner Morning Show and the Tom Joyner Foundation, will be our special guest.

We create opportunity for students to get degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). These industries are where critical careers of the present and future are and will be. Bring Them Hope Human Trafficking Awareness Conference

Bring Them Hope is a conference to raise awareness and equip our community to fight Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking. It will be held on January 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Anderson University Student Center. Music by Emerald Road Celtic Band and topics include:

The SC Disability Employment Coalition will host a free employment workshop for individuals with disabilities in Spartanburg, South Carolina, entitled “Disability Benefits & Employment: Make It Work for You!”. The workshop will explore myths of how work affects disability benefits and will be held at Spartanburg Community College’s Downtown Campus. Plant Journaling 101


Experience the joy of creating your own plant journal. On Saturday, January 26th, PPG will offer a beginner workshop, Plant Journaling 101, which will be taught by Jennifer Galbrath of Meadow Lark Farms School of Folk Medicine.. No artistic abilities are required, just plan to have a fun-filled morning.

Skills and concepts covered:
1) Learn what a plant journal (aka Materia Medica) is and why it is important to have one and use it!
2) Use a plant press to preserve your finds and properly document!
3) Learn how to properly store your information.
4) Learn how to responsibly harvest plants and herbs

An evening of local art, free-play The Popup Arcade games, good eats and a Fight Night boxing finale featuring Blue Ridge Creamery cheese maker Christian Hansen slugging it out with his 18-yr old intern, Zacha. Why, you ask? Why not?

Water Color with Patty


Join instructor and artist Patty Cunningham for another 4 class session studying watercolor, learning new techniques every week. All materials will be provided and you will complete an original watercolor each week. Cottonwood Trail Habitat Restoration Work Day

Soliciting volunteers for a habitat restoration work day on Friday, January 25. We will be cutting and hauling invasives along the Ridge Trail. Meet at Beechwood Drive parking area at 9 a.m. Please bring work gloves and pruning saw (if available). Long pants, heavy shoes, long sleeves, recommended. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Storytime


 

Winter storytime is here an we’ll be exploring all of our senses as we warm up to a good book. Our program is broken up into segments and will feature music, stories, fingerplays, games, crafts, and will end with a creative play experience. For children 0-4.

Humble Beginnings: The Life of Harold Hatcher

Alice Hatcher Henderson, daughter of Harold Hatcher, shares her father's remarkable life stories that culminated in bringing his passions to Spartanburg through Hatcher Garden and Woodland Preserve.
A vital civil rights and social activist in Indiana and several accounts of Mr. Hatcher's life as chronicled by author Mike Hembree in "Seasons of Harold Hatcher", Alice brings us the Hatcher's move to South Carolina in 1969 and how a backyard hobby became an acclaimed southern destination.

Silent Auction for Cherokee Children’s Home


 

Wings Etc is a diverse family fun, sports-oriented restaurant that takes pride in their community. We love to give back to our community in every way possible. We will be hosting a fundraiser January 29, 2019 for the Cherokee Children’s Home. The Cherokee Children’s home is a private non-profit Level 1 Group Home for Children ages infant through seventeen years who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. The home is licensed by South Carolina Department of Social Services to serve 19 children. The foundation strives to work on a plan to take care of each individual; this includes physical, medical, educational, and emotional needs. Your donation will contribute to all of those needs for the children.

On the 29th, we will be hosting a silent auction in our banquet room from 6 pm - 7 pm. All donations that have been collected from local business' across Cherokee County will be auctioned off, and all proceeds will be donated to the group home. If you are a business or individual and are interested in donating, please reach out to us. A little goes a long way. Just by dining with us on the 29th, a percentage of your total will be donated from Wings Etc to the Children's Home.

Generations Annual Luncheon


Generations 2019 Annual Luncheon with special keynote speaker, 2013 Miss America, Mallory Hagan.

Mallory has spoken at several Child Sexual Abuse Summits the past few years, recorded numerous public service announcements, and even lobbied for the Child Sexual Abuse Act on Capitol Hill with the National Children’s Association.  She recently was a keynote speaker at the National Child Advocacy Center’s Symposium.

This event will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the transitional work that Generations has been doing in the state of South Carolina for over twenty-six years. With the goal of "no more sexual abuse victims", Generations has a 98% effectiveness rate, helping those boys who have suffered trauma or abuse in their lives. Over 970 boys have successfully completed the Generations nationally recognized program.
