Eric Church's October 5 Desperate Man release is one of the year’s most anticipated albums, and now fans have even more reasons to look forward to its release day: 37 of them to be exact. Church’s 2019 Double Down Tour will see this month’s American Songwriter cover artist perform six albums worth of material across two very different nights of music.
In a candid cover-story interview in July, Rolling Stone praised Church for “pushing boundaries in a way that sounds natural and unforced." The same goes for his touring in 2019, again foregoing an opening act and instead treating fans to dynamic marathon sets across back-to-back nights.
NOTE: NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE GSP INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BOX OFFICE AT BON SECOURS WELLNESS ARENA. TICKETS CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED ONLINE AT TICKETMASTER.COM.
Hillsong United The People Tour 2019, with special guests Amanda Lindsey Cook + Mack Brock will stop in Greenville on May 6, 2019 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Formed in 1998, Hillsong United is led by Brian and Bobbie’s son, Joel Houston. Hillsong United has created 17 albums. Their song Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) from their album Zion reached platinum status in the U.S. The group has toured for many years, packing out large venues like the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. In 2016, Hillsong United was named Top Christian Artist at the Billboard Music Awards.

A Poignant Southern Comedy
During WWII, six women gather at the church to roll bandages and plan the church's 75th anniversary. Overseeing things is Edith, the pastor's wise-cracking wife who dispenses Red Cross smocks and witty repartee to Luby, whose son is fighting in the Pacific; Mae Ellen, the church's rebellious organist who wants to quit but hasn't the courage; Olene, who dreams of a career in Hollywood; Sammy, a shy newcomer with a secret; and Vera, an influential Baptist with a secret of her own. When Luby learns her son has been wounded, she confounds the others by blaming the vulnerable Sammy. Twenty-five years later, our "First Baptist Six" reunite. With humor and pathos, these six very different women find comfort, forgiveness and redemption in each other.

This will be a club-style seated show. Charlie Hunter and Lucy Woodward are known for excelling in different genres, yet the two veteran musicians have been running in similar circles before pairing up for touring in 2018.
With a career spanning 16 years and almost 20 albums, virtuoso guitarist Charlie Hunter has worked with the likes of Norah Jones, Mos Def, John Mayer, and D'Angelo. He is widely considered the authority on the seven and eight string guitar and continues to stun audiences with his ability to simultaneously bust out tasty bass parts, melodic leads and swinging rhythms.
Mac Arnold’s first band included James Brown on piano. Mac moved to Chicago and Muddy Waters hired him on the spot. He toured and recorded with the Muddy Waters Band and recorded LPs with Otis Spann and John Lee Hooker. Mac moved to Los Angeles and produced Soul Train with his friend Don Cornelius. He even played bass on the Sanford & Son television show when he wasn't playing bass for Otis Redding and B.B. King. He retired from show business to be an organic farmer. Mac is back with his own band and a "plate full" of CDs, building a new foundation in blues, soul and funk. Mac now resides in Pelzer, SC, where at the age of 10 he got his first taste of the blues when he learned to play his brother Leroy’s home-made guitar. Going back to his roots, Mac is serving up a mess of Blues with his own band, “Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues”. The band consists Austin Brashier on guitar and vocals, Max Hightower on keyboards, harmonica, guitar, bass, and vocals, Scotty Hawkins or Dizzy Dizzy on drums and vocals, and Mac Arnold on vocals, bass and Gas Can Guitars.

Wofford College's Dr. Peter Brewitt will visit Hub City Bookshop to discuss his book Same River Twice.
Dam removal was not a realistic option in the twentieth century, and people who suggested it were dismissed as radical dreamers. Over the past twenty years, dam removal has become increasingly common, with dozens of removals now taking place each year nationwide.
How did this happen? Same River Twiceanswers this question by telling the stories of three major Northwestern dam removals—the politics, people, hopes, and fears that shaped three rivers and their communities. Author Peter Brewitt begins each story with the dam’s construction, shows how its critics gained power, details the conflicts and controversies of removal, and explores the aftermath as the river re-established itself.
Peter Brewitt received his PhD in environmental studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he focused on environmental policy. He is now a professor at Wofford College.

The story behind 26 Pebbles:
On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza walked into Sandy Hook Elementary School and killed twenty-six innocent souls before taking his own life. These twenty-six innocent deaths, like pebbles thrown into a pond, created ripples and vibrations that were felt far beyond the initial rings. This is the story of those vibrations.
Please join SPACE and Thicketty Mountain Farm for an exciting new spring event: Bonnamoo! You won't want to miss this celebration of music, food, and farms at our beautiful Cleveland Preserve Farm. We've wanted to showcase this property for a while and we've found the perfect opportunity!
Those dining with us will enjoy a unique dinner carefully crafted by well-known Spartanburg chefs William and Jamie Cribb with wine pairings by Greg Atkins. The chefs will source local ingredients from their friends at Full Circle Farm, Lilly Mae Organics, and Colonial Milling. Featured on the menu will be grass-fed, sustainably raised beef from Thicketty Mountain Farm, Spartanburg’s only organic cattle farm, whose home is SPACE’s own Cleveland Preserve Farm. Every seat will be a seat at the chef's table as guests enjoy a spectacularly paired farm-to-table experience. Local musician, Janeen Scott will play while guests enjoy their meal. SPACE is grateful for our many supporters, the Bonnamoo dinner is presented by Pacolet Milliken and sponsored by the Johnson Group.
Following the dinner, guests are invited to mosey down the hill to enjoy a live performance by the Shane Pruitt Band, a Spartanburg favorite whose music embodies a regional tradition of blues and gospel while bringing its original tone and flare to every performance. Their music has been featured in movies and TV, and their legendary live shows are a testament to the therapeutic powers of foot-stomping, butt-shaking rock-and-roll.
This meeting is intended for leaders of organizations or departments involved in the food system, but everyone is welcome. We need your input on what is working and not working in regards to accessing healthy and local food in Spartanburg County.

Most of the music is their own & several of their original songs found the top 10 on the Bluegrass Grassicana & Gospel Charts. Steve Martin, the Bluegrass Broadcaster of the Year, said, “For being relatively young & new as a group, (they have) a close unity that sends you back to double check their pedigree. Beautiful vocals, tight tasty musical support, they are in this as one. Generating all original material with such power is unusual anymore. All of it works like they mined the vast heritage preceding them. In their hearts & souls, they did, but this is all Backline.” Call 864-520-8807 to purchase your tickets. $15 Adults & $5 Students.
