Bring your Easter egg hunting A-Game and get ready to score some prizes on Monday, April 15th! Because at 6PM the hippity hoppity super fluffy bunny kind of hidden Easter egg hunt will start and you might find some eggcellent eggs along the way.
The Easter Bunny Trail Hop 5K offers trail runners a unique twist on the traditional trail run experience. Participants will run/walk 5 kilometers on a rolling course that winds its way through the beautiful Lake Conestee Nature Park on a mix of dirt and pavement. Along the course, runners will find Easter Eggs stuffed with goodies and a number. Each runner can pick up one egg and match the number inside to a prize at the finish line. It’s an Easter Egg Hunt and a Trail Run all in one. If you’re lucky (and fast enough) you might even catch the Easter Bunny hiding some of the eggs…if you’re lucky. Everyone wins something!
FREE Kids Egg Hunt: We will also have a special Easter Egg Hunt for the children ages 8 and under after the finish. Conestee features a large playground and smooth walking path for those with little kids, so bring the whole family for some fun. We welcome 5k runners and parents to help hide eggs for the kids. Lake Conestee Nature Park is one of the best facilities in the county, and this is a great opportunity to see all the fantastic improvements that have been made to this wonderful outdoor oasis. Walkers and runners welcome. Dogs are welcome on a short leash and owner must clean up after dog. Strollers are not recommended because of steps on boardwalks. The Easter Bunny Trail Hop 5K is race #2 in the 7 race Greenville Dirt Series. Run at least 4 races in the series to be considered for the overall trail running championship for your age group. Johnny and his pals, Oliver and Ben, could be typical 17 year old boys, hanging out in Johnny’s treehouse and dreaming of talking to the beautiful Alana, were it not for Johnny’s insistence that he has the mind of a 53 year old. As Johnny persists in his claim that he’s an old man in a teenager’s body, and conversations in the treehouse become increasingly peppered by the words of the Bard, Johnny grapples simultaneously with adolescence, love, and the mind’s ability to heal from great loss. Peace Interludes are FREE music appreciation gatherings that unpack the rich traditions and diverse styles of great composers. Each month will feature a unique composer and drink pairing, providing a multi-sensory sip, listen, and learn experience that highlights a musical period.
Much like the divisions of the World Wars during the 20th century, the musical style also became divided—no single style dominated, providing an opportunity for a wide range of music composed during this time. Radio broadcasting, sound recording, and electric instruments, along with countries either beaten down by or feeling victorious from war, created a diverse environment for music to develop and transform. Join us for a “War and Peace” Interlude!
The Peace Center’s Peace Voices Poetry program and the Fine Arts Center’s creative writing department partner to host a poetry reading for National Poetry Month, where students from both programs will showcase their work. The featured guest poet will be Sabrina Orah Mark, the author of the poetry collections The Babies and Tsim Tsum. Mark holds an M.F.A. from The University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Her awards include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
