The concert is open to the public. Tickets for the Cultural Life Program event are $5 and are available at the door. Furman Associate Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies Matt Olson conducts the concert that showcases the music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Michael Mossman, Frank Mantooth and more.
Directed by Furman’s Grant Knox, the musical is open to the public. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 60 and older, and $5 for students. An intimate and touching show, “She Loves Me” features music by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick (“Fiddler on the Roof”) and book by Joe Masteroff (“Cabaret”). The beloved musical was nominated for five Tony Awards in 1964.

Hinton was wrongly convicted for two capital murders in 1986. He was exonerated in 2015 after more than a decade of litigation by the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI). Hinton now travels the world speaking about his experience and serves as EJI’s community educator. Recently he authored a memoir, “The Sun Does Shine: How I Found Life and Freedom on Death Row,” which Oprah Winfrey selected as her Book Club Summer 2018 Read.

Meals on Wheels – Anderson is excited to announce that this annual New Orleans themed event featuring a dance-party band, fun silent and live auctions, cold beverages, and delicious food from favorite local restaurants will be a true Fat Tuesday celebration in 2019. On Fat Tuesday, March 5, along with Mardi Gras beads, masks and boas, guests will enjoy “street vendors” reminiscent of those in the popular Jackson Square district of New Orleans. Street Vendors will include a magician, fortune teller, and caricaturist. The event will once again be held at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center. Currents is a spectacular show of “funky moves and cutting-edge technology” (Time Out New York) inspired by the historical Battle of Currents between Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla in their quest to find energy sources for the world. Audience members will be taken on a “non-stop, action packed" (ABC News) journey between two troupes, each representing a different view of the essence of light and electricity. The show combines a variety of elements including specially designed musical instruments, massive video art projections, and 11 skilled performers musically juggling between different sounds.

One of the most masterful voices in Country Music today, GENE WATSON still sings in the same key as 30 years ago and continues to prove why he is rightly referred to as “The Singer’s Singer”. His powerful voice and multi-octave range allows him to sing some of the most challenging songs with an ease that comes from pure, natural talent as well as from his many years performing onstage. “Every time I step out on that stage and see that audience, it’s a new beginning. Even though I’ve sung these songs millions of times, I look at each one like it’s brand new to me. Every night, I try to deliver that song the best that I can. “Being called a ‘Singer’s Singer’ humbles me. 
Known by many South Carolinians as the “Party Band of the South”, the Swingin' Medallions have been based out of the Greenwood South Carolina area, since the early 1960's. The music most often associated with the band is beach music, frat rock, R&B, or shaggin' music. After a few years of touring colleges in the south, John McElrath took the group to Arthur Smith's Studio in Charlotte North Carolina, to record "Double Shot (of My Baby's Love)". The song became a million seller in 1966, they followed up with. "She Drives Me Out Of My Mind" & "Hey, Hey, Baby" which were top 40 hits as well. "Double Shot" remains the signature song of the Swingin' Medallions. Although the the members changed over the years, the band has always included around eight members with at least a four piece horn section. The high energy party style stage performance of the first Medallions has been passed down to the band that performs today. 
 When Mac Powell was a sophomore in high school, he moved to Atlanta, GA where his passion for music & faith found an outlet in the band THIRD DAY. Over the past 25 years THIRD DAY has helped transform Christian music, selling 10 million albums, earning 4 Grammy awards, 1 American Music Award, 24 Dove Awards & by being inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Mac Powell & the Family Reunion started in early 2018 as the next chapter of Mac's musical journey. The Family Reunion is a band that has developed over the past several years from the musical “brothers" that have been recording & playing with Mac in support of his first 2 solo projects. Featuring students from both the jazz studies and vocal departments, along with Jazz Studies Instructor Steve Watson and Voice Instructor Danielle Knox, these concerts give you the opportunity to see local rising stars. The February program will feature selections from the Great American Songbook, including works from composers Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Jimmy Van Heusen, and Irving Berlin. The Brain Injury Association of South Carolina (BIASC) is dedicated to creating a better future through brain injury prevention, research, education and advocacy. We are the only nonprofit organization in the state dedicated to preventing and helping those with brain injury. The Upstate Run & Roll 5K and 1 Mile Walk / Roll began as a support for brain injury survivors and a tool for awareness. It was initially about the patients and giving them the opportunity to participate in something with meaning. This event has increased from 45 participants to 400+ participants with participants who are both brain injury survivors and teams that run/walk/roll in honor or memory of someone. The Run For Thought has become a community event that includes brain injury survivors, caregivers, providers, as well as competitive runners. We welcome you to the 11th Annual Upstate Run & Roll 5K and 1 Mile Walk / Roll... Please note - This event is run mostly on the Swamp Rabbit Trail throughout Cleveland Park in downtown Greenville. 100% of the run is on pavement.

Individuals and businesses can take advantage of FREE on-site document shredding, electronic recycling, and take home practical tips to prevent identity theft online and off. Goodwill on-site accepting old desktop computers, laptops, monitors and printers. Before reselling, hard drives are wiped clean to the standards of the US Department of Defense. Maximum number of boxes and plastic bags per consumer, business and vehicle is 3. Cardboard boxes will be emptied and returned to consumers. Due to safety concerns and to ensure that we are able to serve as many vehicles as possible, we are unable to accept people on foot this year or allow people to get out of their vehicle to watch their paper shredded. The complimentary shred event is first come, first serve or until the shred trucks fill up, so coming early is advised. Women’s History Month is not just for women, but for all who champion women. This evening will encourage a frank and honest dialogue uplifting women and their causes. Sarah Blackman, Jacqueline Johnson, and Len Lawson will speak poetically from their perspectives. The director of creative writing at the Fine Arts Center, Blackman’s debut novel, Hex, explores how a woman can use language to rebuild herself. Johnson is the author of two collections of poetry, A Woman’s Season and A Gathering of Mother Tongues. Lawson won the 2016 Jasper Magazine Artist of the Year Award in Literary Arts, wrote the book Before the Night Wakes You, and co-edited Hand in Hand: Poets Respond to Race. What will she say? The classic tale "The Wizard of Oz" is directed by Kathy Genevie. This joint production of the Abbeville Opera House Youth Theatre and the Opera House players is written by L. Frank Baum. The story chronicles the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, after she and her pet dog Toto are swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The Library of Congress has declared it "America's greatest and best-loved homegrown fairytale".
