SAM | Free Art Movie | Helvetica

FROM IMDB: The documentary follows the typeface from its humble beginnings in a type foundry located in Münchenstein, Switzerland. Type designer Max Meidinger and his boss Edvard Hoffman were developing a new typeface which would be invisible, one which would not attract attention - one which would convey information but not draw attention away from the subject being discussed. The new typeface was named 'Die Neue Haas Grotesk'. In order to market the typeface to the American market a new name had to be chosen: HELVETICA.

Runtime: 1 hours 20 minutes

Films are projected onto the 15-foot-high walls of the Museum. Stick around after the movie for a Q&A and discussion with SAM curators!

The story makes us deliberate the limits of loyalty, the importance of structure and the value of friendship. Ideals that are classic, maybe, but always relevant. Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss

Country music legend, Willie Nelson and 27-time-winning Grammy sensation Alison Krauss are headed to Greenville on Friday, August 16! The iconic pair is sure to blow you away with their musical talent.

Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. Alison Krauss is largely responsible for keeping bluegrass music alive and well in the U.S., and she’s got the awards to prove it. Krauss is a nationwide favorite in concert and has been performing onstage since the early 90s and selling out tours across North America since the early 2000s.
