Composer Gustav Mahler once wrote in a letter, “My music is lived!” And it is in this spirit that our first program of 2021 was born. This February, the Spartanburg Philharmonic invites you to reinvigorate your soul with Soulful Serenade featuring pieces that tug at your heart, pull at your emotions, and even transform your spirit. Whether you seek to be inspired, transported, soothed, or embraced, Soulful Serenade will do all that and more. Get swept away by the color and vibrant energy of Jessie Montgomery’s Starburst. To be uplifted and entranced by Florence Price’s String Quartet in G . To be lulled by the tender, lyrical strains of Jules Massenet’s Meditation from Thaïs. To be romanced by Mahler’s Adagietto from Symphony no. 5. And to be utterly moved by the sheer beauty of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. Join your Spartanburg Philharmonic for an escape from the everyday into the pure emotion of music.
